Mott MacDonald has been consultants to this Slough Heat and
Power Plant Ltd and predecessor companies for over forty years,
developing the various stages of this multi-fuelled utility, which
supplies heat and power to adjacent industry and exports power to
the grid.
Recently we investigated the combustion and environmental
implications of burning Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) in co-combustion
with coal in the fluidised bed boiler, where the common potential
for hydrochloric acid (HCL) was a major consideration.
Slough Refuse Derived Fuel Heat and Power
Plant
This project was implemented and RDF from municipal waste in Sussex
supplies up to 30% of the heat input to the boiler, depending on
fuel availability.
