For Laporte Industries, we undertook a feasibility study into
the use of landfill gas, resulting from refuse deposited in two
quarries at Redhill, used in the processing of Fullers Earth.
The study involved detailed consideration of two options, either
using the gas directly in rotary louvre dryers or firing it in a
gas turbine driven combined heat and power plant. The gas turbine
exhaust would be ducted to the rotary dryers.
