Contract documents and tenders

Preparing specifications and tender documents and managing the tendering processes, tender adjudication, negotiation and award of contracts combines the experience of Mott MacDonald's waste management team, our other relevant technical experts and our specialist contracts department.

Through our contracts specialists we advise on the most suitable form of contracting strategy and conditions of contract. They work alongside our waste management specialists to advise on suitable contractors, produce the instructions to tender, the form of tender, modifications to the conditions of contract, general specifications and performance or detailed technical specifications, technical drawings and a schedule of rates or a bill of quantities, as required.

We make sure we are available to answer technical queries and provide clarifications, as required. We will also arrange for the receipt of returned documents and will implement our standard tender opening procedures.

Our quantity surveyors and specialised waste management staff check that the returned bids are fully compliant and arithmetically correct. They also assess the impact of any alternative solutions. The returned bids evaluate the financial, environmental and technical grounds and we provide a tender evaluation report identifying a recommended contractor. The financial merits are assessed item by item to check for anomalies and also to discover the tenderers' contracting strategy. Fluctuations of key items are also considered to determine the effect of a delay of programme or other occurrences that may affect the overall price.
